Good evening, everyone! I hope your weekend is going well. If you happen to be off tomorrow, enjoy an extra day of rest. Remember to thank God for his new blessings and mercies today. He is so deserving of all the glory, honor and praise.
Here’s another sermon snack for you. It’s Pastor Dan’s turn to be the sous chef and this is a delectable one.
There’s a rock that doesn’t move and his name is Christ. That’s where our help comes from. We have to deny ourselves, pick up our cross, and follow him. We must be close to Jesus and follow him, all while killing the element of ourselves. If we don’t do that, we’ll struggle. You know you’re a friend if you carry it out.
If you deliver truth without love you’re trying to be right. How is the person responding to what you’re saying? It’s one thing to be truthful, it’s another to consider how it’s received. If there’s no love, you’re a clanging symbol. Be known by your gentleness. Know your audience. Jesus considered what he said with each person he spoke to.
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.” Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
John 14:1-6 NKJV
Jesus wants to dwell where we are and he wants us to be where he is.
“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
John 17:3 NKJV
Eternal life is knowing him. We can dwell with Jesus throughout our week.
“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life— the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us— that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.”
I John 1:1-3 NKJV
Jesus is eternal life. Our life here and in the next is about being with him.
