Sunday Sermon Snack – Friday

Good evening, everyone! It’s Friday! Another week has come and gone. It’s the weekend as well as the start of the latter half of the month. I think it’s safe to say 2015 is a blink-and-you-miss – it kind of year. Nonetheless, it’s been wonderful to wake up each day to God’s new blessings and mercies. Give thanks to him today for all he is and all that he’s doing.

And now, for those of you look for some late night goodies that won’t go to your hips, here’s part two of my notes from Pastor Dan’s sermon.

It’s about knowing him. We do what we do because we know who we are.

“Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.”
I John 2:3-6 NKJV

We have to identify with the new creation. We have to walk as he walked now and we have to believe that the love he put in us is enough to make it possible. You have to look ahead to see where you should be. When you focus on what’s good, you’re not walking for perfection but to make God proud.

“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.”
I John 4:7-8, 16 NKJV

If we don’t love we don’t know God. God is love and when we abide in love we abide in God. If the fruit is bad, make the tree good. Let’s get stirred up enough that we HAVE TO spend time with the Lord. We all need a relationship with him. Sunday morning is not enough. Don’t be deceived by how you feel. When we focus on sonship and being with him, we have a higher sensitivity of our heart changing.
