Good evening, everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. It was amazing today. I went to a park today after church and took in God’s beauty. He is truly an amazing God and I thank him for the new blessings and mercies he created for this day.
I haven’t posted a sermon snack in a while so I want to backtrack to last Sunday. Here’s a little something from Pastor Josh’s sermon. I think you’ll like it.
We all have this life to live and this battle to fight. Sometimes we wish it were pleasant and comfortable. We go through things that are difficult but we’re on the winning side.
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Ephesians 6:10-15 NKJV
It’s never about the flesh and blood, but powers of the darkness of the age. Lucifer wanted the same attention God was getting and he lead one third of the angels in his rebellion and they were all cast down. There is confusion in the war zone and not everything is in black and white. Jesus defeated the devil and took the keys of death and made us light for others to know him. For this battle an armor has been given. There is a natural, spiritual, and soul component to us. We need the soul to line up with the spirit in order to live this life. We need truth in order to fight for the right cause. If there’s no truth it’s a way of destruction. We are all our best preachers. When we line up with the righteousness of Christ we see ourselves as he does. The battle doesn’t get easier. You have to press in even when it feels like it’s not over. It’s our job to engage with this world so they are reconciled with Christ. The gospel is what we stand on and stand in. It’s the preparation of the gospel of peace. If we stand on the gospel we’ll be able to change hearts. There’s a strength that comes from standing on the gospel. The gospel is always going to offend some people. It’s all right to be bold about our faith. If we don’t step up with courage no one will know. The gospel is the good news. We all need to have our own gospel or story of how Jesus has touched our lives.
