Sunday Sermon Snack – Saturday

Good evening, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Saturday. Mine was wonderful. Today my church made over 400 Thanksgiving meal to distribute. It was awesome being in a position to bless someone else. It really is more blessed to give than to receive. I hope you will have the opportunity to help someone in need. I’m thankful to God for his blessings and mercies and for how he uses people to help others. Through that, others will come to know who he is, a compassionate, merciful, forgiving, gracious, and loving God.

Today I have a delicious sermon snack for you from the Sunday before last. Pastor Josh brought a wonderful word and I know it will be a blessing to you.
We’ll understand God’s kingdom if we become like children. We don’t have to get stuck in debate. God just loves you and he has a plan for you. Deal with it. We’re told at a young age to look for yourselves and it’s contrary to what the word says. Evil os afoot and lives are destroyed in the world. We must do something about it. We can’t see need and not do something.

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;”
Ephesians 6:10-17 NKJV

We’re in an evil day and we must stand against it. The word of God is what God says. It’s offensive to those that are educated because it’s so simple. A man’s word was once trustable. God gives us the ability to stand by his word. God’s word is his bond. There’s the written word and the spoken word. The spoken word is powerful in the space you’re in. God’s word is substance. His words have power, just as our words have power. God doesn’t misuse his words and everything he says is true. If you think this fight can be won defensively you won’t last.

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Hebrews 4:12 NKJV

God’s word is more powerful than we give it credit for. It shows us how to walk in his plan. You can put muscle behind something, but if God isn’t behind it, it won’t work. Power for God to change us is real. He sees things ahead of time and speaks things ahead of time. We’re so attached to our feeling but we have to trust him. There’s something about the waiting process that prepares our hearts for what God has planned. Everytime you make a mistake, it doesn’t change what God says about you. It’s not about the failure. What God says will happen.

“But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”
II Peter 3:8-9 NKJV
