Sunday Sermon Snack – Thursday

Good evening, everyone! Happy Thursday! I hope it was a wonderful day. We are one week away from Christmas Eve. It’s so exciting and I can’t wait to spend it with friends and family. I’m thankful for all the new blessings and mercies that God provided today. Take the time to see him working in your day.

I have a delectable morsel that I want to share with from Pastor Josh’s sermon last Sunday. I have feeling you will love this one.

We are all family and it’s a wonderful privilege. For some the idea of family brings pain but through Christ we must work on that. We’re not like brothers and sisters and sons and daughters. We ARE brothers and sisters in Christ and sons and daughters of God. It’s not prideful to think that way. Jesus qualified us for that.

This is a walk of faith, a step by step journey on a path with and to the one who created us. We can’t get caught up in the rush that we don’t take time to view the works God created. Jesus is the sacrificial lamb and through him we become sons of God. God’s plans aren’t limited to this earth. There will be a new heaven and a new earth. Heaven and earth will pass away and we must use our time wisely. Jesus gave his life to us. Lay hold of that reality by faith.

The gospel has to be simple. Peters simple message brought 3000 people to Christ. God inside us is the motivated factor.

“And He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
II Corinthians 5:17-19

They followed Christ in the flesh. Now they follow the Holy Spirit. We can’t see him but he’s changing our lives. Jesus knew it was going to take many people to spread the gospel. That’s why he sent the Holy Spirit. He’s at work in our lives and we must accept that he is helping us in this life. The devil always challenges our identity. Repentence isn’t changing your behavior, but changing your mind. When you change your mind, your behavior will change. Don’t get caught up in yourself. You’ll miss the fact that God made you a new creation. Our righteousness is here because of what Jesus did. The gospel is not just what Jesus did but also what we do.

“And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.”
I Corinthians 15:49 NKJV

Because he lives we can face tomorrow. Because he lives I live. Because he loves I can love. Lay hold to the fact that what happened at the last supper was just the beginning. When he resides in you, he will show you things.
