Good afternoon, everyone! How’s your weekend? I hope you’re enjoying this amazing day. Take time to thank God for his new blessings and mercies. He did put there for the sake if putting them there. He wants you to see how much he loves you and how wonderful he is.
This sermon snack is actually going to be a feast. I was going to brake it up, but it’s too good for me to do that. I want you to see how God used Pastor Josh the Sunday before last. I want you to have your plates ready, but also, get the Tupperware out and share this food with someone else.
God’s word is true and he is with us wherever we go. We become disciples as we follow Christ. We then are able to disciple others and help them follow Christ. It’s not restictive or boring. Disciples get to handle miracles through Christ. It’s a very invigorating thing. Our true purpose is to follow Jesus Christ. We can’t lead someone if we’re not going anywhere. Disciples are not just leaders, they’re followers. When we confess Jesus as Lord, God becomes our heavenly Father through a supernatural seed. We have a different life on the inside of us. Jesus doesn’t offer a betterment life, but his own life in exchange for ours. Peoples lives our changes when we lay down our plans for God, and it’s usually for someone else. The mission is to equip other people for ministry. It’s not just for an elite few. Everyone can do it. There’s a reason why we’re here. We have to offer Christ. Get in touch with his heartbeat and he will show you who you are.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
II Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
To walk in something new takes faith. People will start to ask about the change and enquire about it. There’s a new creation we’ve been made into and we must learn who that person is. Everything about our lives in routed in our identity. In the spiritual world it’s even more critical. The devil will try to get us to think that we’re not who Jesus calls us to be and we’ll think it’s normal. We can’t settle for less than what Jesus said we are. When you become a disciple you have the capacity to pour out what we’ve been given.
“And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.”
I Corinthians 15:45, 49 NKJV
You can’t change the fruit unless you change the seed. We are not hybrids. The old you has died and is buried with Christ. The new life is birthed through the Holy Spirit. When we are born again our DNA changes. We must be aware of that and feed into it.
“Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, because “All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, But the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.”
I Peter 1:23-25 NKJV
Behavior modification and channeling good thoughts cannot do what the blood of Jesus can do. Are you ready to open your doors and lower your walls so others can see what Christ has done in you? We have to be willing to let others taste and see that the Lord is good through your life. Don’t put a basket over your life. Live outside yourself. Jesus transformed us from death to life and others need to see it. Over 90% of people in church are born again because of someone else. Tell your story. Invite people in to experience the blessing of living outside yourself. We overcome because of what God does in us.
“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”
I John 5:4 NKJV
What seed are you born of? Our faith helps us overcome the world.
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Romans 12:21 NKJV
We are not victims anymore. We are victorious.
“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”
I John 4:4 NKJV
We’ve overcome because of Jesus, who lives inside us.
“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
I Corinthians 15:57 NKJV
He doesn’t give us a better life but a brand new one.
