Sunday Sermon Snack – Saturday : Life in Christ

Good evening, everyone! How is your weekend so far? I hope everything is going well. It was a wonderful day filled with God’s new blessings and mercies today. Be sure to count those blessing each day. I’m thankful for another day to be alive.

Now it’s time for a late night snack, courtesy of Pastor Josh. These notes are from last Sunday’s early bird service. I have a feeling they will touch your hearts.

New-Life-In-Christ
Our lives will change when we come to God. We must embrace who God is for our lives, and not be afraid to change. This is transformation change from dark to light, death to life. We can’t just have a part of Jesus. He said we must take up our cross daily. We must walk this life in his strength, not our own. Embrace all of what Jesus is and desire him in your life. It’s about what you can do through Jesus not what you can’t do. He has everything we need for our lives. The greatest trick the enemy plays is to get us to blame God for the malady in our lives and in this world.

“And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.”
Colossians 2:13-15 NKJV

Life isn’t about us but glorifying Jesus. It’s a good day when someone sees Jesus in us and wants to know more about him. We won’t fully know what we were saved from until we’re with him in heaven. The holiness of our God is what it is. It ensures no sin is present. You can’t have sin in the presence of a holy God. The penalty of sin was paid for by the blood of Jesus. Man and God walked together before sin came in the world. Afterwards Adam was evicted from the garden. The holiness of God is beyond what we can understand. God wanted to get back to his people. He first did that with the tabernacle. What does it mean to believe in Jesus and to be known by him? God desires that no one would parish. He wants all to become his children. We bear his image and have the quality of God in us. That is why we love God and love our neighbors as our selves.

“For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; not that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood of another— He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.”
Hebrews 9:24-28 NKJV

Jesus offered himself once to bear the sins of many. He loves us and has a plan for us. Make time to discover the riches of his glory. God came to take possession of a temple. We’re his children, we’re his temples. We carry his image and we must shine in a dark place. The devil only has a big mouth and no power.

“the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints. To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.”
Colossians 1:26-28 NKJV

“Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”
Hebrews 2:14-15 NKJV

Embrace Christ and allow him to come in.

God breathed into everyone. We can diffuse the breath of heaven into places where there is no hope.

“So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
I Corinthians 15:54-57 NKJV

The presence of God lives in us and we will never die. Death was swallowed up in victory. We’re alive in Christ. What more do we need? The church of Jesus Christ needs to stay alive, not be revived every week. See yourself as alive in Christ. We must rise up so his presence can be shown.
