Eventually the sun comes out. The rain is wonderful and it’s another one of God’s amazing blessings. He is so good and wonderful.

It’s time for another Jamaican Gem. This us a sermon from Pastor Don and their is much truth. I hope it helps you as much as it did for me.

Pursuing the a Mind of God

Love, unity, and humility should be in our hearts. The bible is about life. Now that we’ve said yes to Jesus we must pursue the mind of God.

“Therefore if there  is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.”

Philippians 2:1‭-‬2 NKJV

Paul wants us to be like Jesus. We should live in bondage no longer.

“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,”

Philippians 2:3‭-‬5 NKJV

This mind set was in Jesus and should also be in us. To pursue is to follow after,  to be an imitator. Paul was once a persecutor of Christians. He was in church but didn’t have a relationship with Jesus. You can be in church all your life and never know Jesus. Everyone should see him living inside of you. We need to read this word for ourself to have his mind. God knows everything about us and he’s waiting for us to get his mind on the situation.

““For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord . “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.”

Isaiah 55:8‭-‬9 NKJV

The way we think about situations and people and this world must be after the mind of God.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

John 3:16 NKJV

Everyone needs Jesus. It doesn’t matter how vial this world gets. Adam didn’t understand what he would unleash when he sinned against God. Sickness murder and death. Jesus came and reconciled us back to God. It’s up to us to have his mind. However the enemy has come.

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

John 10:10 NKJV

“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.””

Genesis 1:26 NKJV

Because of the creation it matters what we do from the point that we are made new by Jesus. To pursue the mind of Christ we must know how he talks. God never said his walk would be easy but he’ll give us the strength to keep going.

“How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.”

Psalms 119:9 NKJV

To live a pure life we must heed what the word of God says.

“Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.”
Psalms 119:11 NKJV

There’s a place for the spirit of truth to be in us. Nothing can be done in selfish ambition. We must esteem others better than ourselves. It’s not about us. We are living in a “selfie” generation. Look at me! Look what I can do. Allow another to shine. When we do the will of God we are part of God’s family. How many times do we put someone else first? Yes, we should take care of ourselves and be responsible. If we see an opportunity to put someone before us, we should allow them to be first. We must realize we will be out of our comfort zone, but it’s for us to grow in God.

“For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.”
Romans 8:29 NKJV

We must read the word everyday for us to be transformed. James 3 Do unto others as we would have them do unto you. We must be intimate with God by getting into his word. Our personal time with God will help us to grow and hear his voice. Jesus was never separated from the Father. Since we are to follow him and his example, we too are to be close to God.

“For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.”
Romans 8:29 NKJV

Jesus lived a life of obedience. God was pleased with his obedience. It’s one thing to call Jesus your savior, it’s another to call him Lord. Not everyone wants a Lord.

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
Galatians 2:20 NKJV

Paul realized how precious the cross was and so should we.

“Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers. So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.” And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them. Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them, but His mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.”
Luke 2:46‭-‬52 NKJV

Jesus is the model to follow. He knew what he was called to do. Our gifting and calling can go places our reputation will not sustain us. That is why we need teachers, pastors, and parents. We must be willing to submit to the man and woman placed in our lives if we expect to receive a blessing from God.

“Floor I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord , thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11

You can’t pursue our own plan but God’s plan. There’s a process to get us to the place that God wants us to be. Obience is a true mark of the obedience with God. Blessed is the child who has his own relationship with God.

“That they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,
Titus 2:4 NKJV

God’s intention for our life is to become purer each and everyday. As a born again believer we must understand that we have the mind of Christ. As life transitions we must follow Jesus.

“But his delight is in the law of the Lord , And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.”
Psalm 1:1-2 NKJV

To prosper in life we must spend time with God.

“Show me Your ways, O Lord ; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.”
Psalms 25:4‭-‬5 NKJV

Ask God to teach you and show you where to go.

“To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.”
Revelation 3:21 NKJV

We are to be people who overcome each and everyday of our lives.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.”
Psalms 23:1‭-‬3 NKJV

The valley is just a passageway, not the destination. Who is leading our lives? God will never lead us to a place where we will drown. He will bring nourishment in our lives and help us to bless others. Everything that comes into your life isn’t for you. God will show up. He wants us to stand on his promises. Are we willing to put ourselves under God? We must trust him in the middle of trials. We may not see what happens tomorrow. But that place will be called Jehovah Jireh. We must pursue him each day through our circumstances. The formula we need in our lives is in the bible. For all that is going to happen we have Jesus.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Matthew 6:33 NKJV
