Sunday Sermon Snack – Jamaican Gems :  Keep Your Focus On Christ

Good afternoon, everyone! How are you on this glorious Tuesday? I hope all of you are having a great day and that you take time to thank God for his amazing blessings and mercies. He’s so wonderful and he deserves our praise.

Its time fir another Jamaican Gem courtesy of Pastor Don. As always don’t keepnthis delectable morsel to yourself. There’s enough to share with everybody.

Our object of worship should always be the Lord regardless of what goes on. We have to keep our focus on the cross. Today we tend to get distracted. Don’t forget about the great price that was paid for us by Jesus. We can’t emulate other people. We must be who God created us to be. We were all created in the image and likeness of God. We have his creative abilities and they will make a way for us. The world needs witnesses of the power that lives inside of us. We can’t have faith without godliness. We have an individual responsibility for our faith.

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,”

Hebrews 12:1 NKJV

Our race is set before us and we must set aside every weight. There are witnesses who went before that are cheering us on.

“looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Hebrews 12:2 NKJV

We must work out of the rest of the finished work of Christ. Look at the finished work by faith. Are you persuaded about your faith, that the cross is enough? If we profess faith, we should walk in it. Sometimes God won’t show you what to do, but we must trust him. We must be people of faith and put our hope on the cross. We’re all in the process of being changed. We are new creations in Christ.

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

Ephesians 2:10 NKJV

We can’t have things weighing us down if we want to be effective. Everyone is not going where you’re going. We must walk with Jesus. Know the things that are weighing you down and let them go so you can focus on God. The weight cannot be apart of us if we are to run this Christian race. Sin disqualifies us before God and makes us cowards before the enemy. If Jesus took away our sin it should not be a part of our lives. Sin is a choice. Don’t put yourself in a position for the flesh to take over. Be focused on Christ instead of your circumstances. Magnify the Lord, or enlarge him, bigger than your problems. We need to keep our focus on Jesus each and every day of our lives in spite of what goes on. The vision God gives us will come to pass. Faith has a corresponding action to it.

“being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”

Philippians 1:6 NKJV

We can’t stall out in the middle of the trial. There was a price paid for our life. Jesus is the model and example of our faith. When we focus on Jesus, the walk becomes what it’s suppose to be, a walk of faith. The power is in the word and we must tell others about it. Faith is bold. Jesus wasn’t focused on the suffering but the end result. That’s how it should be for us. Even when we’re going through, we must stay faithful.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.”

II Timothy 4:7‭-‬8 NKJV

Disappointment is inevitable, discouragement is a choice. The price that was paid for us was too great. We can’t let the devil talk us out of who we are.

“By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days. By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace. And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of  David and Samuel and the prophets: who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again. Others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection. Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and of chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented— of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth. And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.”

Hebrews 11:30‭-‬40 NKJV

Joshua was one of the greatest warriors that ever lived. Joshua went everywhere that Moses did and he knew what God put in him. We must know what power we have inside of us. Don’t let anyone dial down from where God brought you from. Stop and look back at the mountains God has brought you over. Don’t be afraid of being thrown in the fire. Believe that Jesus will show up in your situation. When we refuse to bow down to worldly systems we will be with Jesus. God will honor faith.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it  is the gift of God,”

Ephesians 2:8 NKJV

We need to receive salvation by faith. Lift up the name of the Most High.
