Good morning, everyone! How is your new week? We’re almost at the end of August. Summer is almost over, but it was a great one. I thank God for all the blessings he provided each morning. Great is his faithfulness!
I have a new sermon snack for you. Pastor Josh gave an awesome sermon on Sunday and I want you all to feast on it and share it with others. Yes, it’s that good.
There’s a new generation that’s ready to see new change and lives transformed. There’s a unity and strength in the church. We can’t be pessimistic. God has a plan and a purpose for every person. Many of the news groups report on the fatality of life and it causes others to live in fear. It produces a bad seed of waiting for the foot to drop instead of rising up in faith. Put your focus where it belongs, back on God. We need to get to place where our concern is praying for others. What we’re expecting changes how we feel about things. Fear rules many people’s lives because of the brokeness in this world.
“Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless.”
II Peter 3:11-14 NKJV
People are struggling because they’re listening to a voice that produces fear. We must expect according to God’s promises. Disasters happen but we’re rooted and grounded in something that’s beyond planet Earth. There’s a place we’re going to and we must handle things here from a different viewpoint. Its not because its easier but because we have a place we’re going to. Praising is a choice.
What are we looking forward to? Faith can rise up when we understand what God is doing. Faith comes by hearing but so does fear. What’s fueling your life? God is an amazing God. He’s not who we say he is but who he says he is. He’s a good father and disciplines us with love. Life is not the proof of who he is. God’s perspective is different from ours. We can’t live in the negativity of our chances. We have to take risks. Many today are incompetent. It’s not because of a lack of potential but a lack of desire to compete and win. There are so many spectators who do not compete themselves. We’re use to taking a back seat and letting someone else do it but there is a time coming when we must go all in. There’s a competative nature in God.
“Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 3:12-14 NKJV
God has a purpose for us and we must press on toward it. Forget the past and look forward. It’s not OK to let brokeness decide how you will live your life. Its takes a competative nature to not allow other things to control you. We’ve been set free and we must walk it out. There’s something in us that we need to accomplish, not to earn our salvation but to steward the time that we have. We can’t take our talents to the grave. Everyone blames God and not evil for the bad things that happen. Many of the things that happen are our fault. We have control over our lives. We can control our destiny and move mountains by faith. Walk by faith. Pray for it and listen to the voice of the father. Hold on to the progress you’ve already made. If Satan possesses your ears he’s possessing you. With everything the apostle Paul experienced he had to press on. Because of what he went through we have most of the new testament. When the devil attempts to brake us he takes a big risk. It has the potential to make us stronger. There’s a vision in our hearts that we must walk after. We can’t wish for it. We are not created to walk a life of defeat. We are to yoked with Jesus and walk in freedom and victory. Jesus went into the ground with every sin of all the people. He paid for it and carried it in the ground. He came back up and left the sin in the ground never to come back. He bore our sickness and oain everything that separated us from him. We are truly free. You can’t shut down light. The darker it gets the more powerful light gets. The power of God is not wishful thinking. It’s powerful. There’s a faith that rises up and the devil can’t do anything about it. There’s a voice that’s calling out for our hearts. Failure has broken us and we’re afraid to try. We have a promise for a new heaven and earth. We must find a way to get back to hearing a call to this place. Forget what’s behind you. Jesus is in front of you. Stop judging God for what didn’t come yet. Everything hapoens in his time. Believe that it is happening even now. Rise to where we respect Gods time. He is faithful and loves us.
