Sunday Sermon Snack – Saturday: Identity Through the Holy Spirit

Good afternoon, everyone! I hope you are enjoying your Saturday. It is a wonderful day and I thank God for his new blessings and mercies. Take that time to think about all God has done for you. Don’t wait until next mobth to have a heart of thankfulness. Start today.

I have a delectable sermon snack for you courtesy of Pastor Josh. He preached a dynamic word on Sunday and I know you’ll enjoy it. Don’t forget to share with someone after you take it in.

There is a level of change that is needed that cannot be found in a pay raise or another president. It’s only in the Holy Spirit. He abides in us as Emanuel he is with us. Jesus wants to do a work in his bride the church and it will be done through the Holy Spirit. There’s so much that is broken that God called us to be a light in the dark place. We’re led to reign and rule in this place through the Holy Spirit. We’re not the backup plan. We’re THE plan. The Holy Spirit wants us to know truth and we must be spiritual hungry for it.

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in  it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.”:

James 1:22‭-‬25 NKJV

God is good. He loves his kids. He wants us to live a life so others can see Jesus in us. Many think they are born without a purpose. We are born in the image of God. It’s not about what someone else said. We are not the image that someone else gives us. God gives us a desire to move forward. Hear the word of the Lord and do what God has called you to do. There’s a richness in what God calls us to. It’s not about what’s in our paycheck. Look into the law of liberty and don’t forget what you look like. Do things for people instead of expecting people to take care of us. We’re born needing people to do things for us. Jesus taught us that the lower you go the greater you are in the kingdom. You exist for the betterment of others. It’s not about building your own kingdom. While were yet sinners God demonstarted his love for us. Our works demonstrate what God had done for us. We’re not here for ourselves. We can do more than we think. The greatest revolation of your growth spiritually is doing things you thought you couldn’t do.

“But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.”

2 Peter 1:5‭-‬9 NKJV

If you don’t have these things you’re not seeing spiritually and forgot you were born again. Don’t allow a failure to be part of your identity. In our human aspect we miss the mark sometimes. Only through Jesus can we reach the mark. Don’t miss the fact that you’ve been changed. Your works identify who you really are. Remind yourself who you really are. You can forget how great a salvation you’ve been saved with. Get beyond yourself into spiritual focus. God’s chosen people were birthed into slavery. When Moses came through God to lead them out, there were many plagues. The ninth plague was darkness.

“Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, darkness which may even be felt.” So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days. They did not see one another; nor did anyone rise from his place for three days. But all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.”

Exodus 10:21‭-‬23 NKJV

In some places you can feel the level of spiritual darkness. It lastes three days but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings. We sometimes don’t have light becasue we set an atmosphere around ourselves. We’ve been born of an incorruptible seed. We are the light of the world. We don’t put a basket over our light. God has a purpose and a plan. The darker it gets the brighter we shine. Don’t be intimidated by it. Success is not measured in the letters before your name or the zeroes on your paycheck. Are we willing to live spiritually? It takes a supernatural touch to bring change. Growth comes as we continue to love and show kindness. Growth comes as we do the right thing. How will others see us if do the same thing as they? We must be hungry for spiritual things.

“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.”

Matthew 11:12 NKJV

There’s a level of contest that has to be in our spirit. If we don’t invest in the spiritual things, we’ll never experience it. We arent robotic that God can put this in us. We have to choose it.

“So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, and said, “ Lord , I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord  opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”

2 Kings 6:16‭-‬17 NKJV

God has always wanted a chosen people. Don’t allow the discouragement of others to realize that you are now a coheir with Christ. The spirit realm doesn’t turn on or off by your faith. We live in a cosmic struggle of good and evil and we must take a possition and face what’s in front of us.

“That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving, And tell of all Your wondrous works.”

Ps 26:7 NKJV

Emanuel is God’s identity. He is here and he dwells with us by the Holy Spirit. We have to be able to see the realm of the Holy Spirit. We can’t have a second hand experience but a true connection available through the Holy Spirit. Let him become your identity.
